 The “Spicy Fat Cat,” a new smoked beef sausage developed by the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, will make its Rupp Arena debut Oct. 27 during the UK men’s basketball team’s Blue-White scrimmage.

The Spicy Fat Cat is a skinless, 100-percent-beef smoked sausage infused with pepper jack cheese, said Gregg Rentfrow, meats specialist and director of the UKAg Butcher Shop.

University of Kentucky Ag Equine Programs will host the UK Equine Showcase and the 6th Annual Kentucky Breeders’ Short Course Jan. 23-24, both at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton, 2601 Richmond Road, in Lexington.

The UK Equine Showcase, now in its fourth year, will highlight the university’s current equine programs and relevant industry findings. It will run from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23, with a light reception following.

A forestry field day on Oct. 30 in Jackson will focus on managing and harvesting timber in Eastern Kentucky.
