Black vultures are a concern for livestock producers throughout Kentucky, particularly this time of the year, as they can kill newborn calves and other juvenile livestock. University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment faculty and staff are working with Kentucky producers to find low-cost, legal options to control these birds and prevent livestock losses.

Jeff Stringer, a longtime University of Kentucky professor who is well-known by members of Kentucky forest industries, has been named chair of the UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, subject to board of trustees’ approval.

This year’s workshop, an annual tri-state event that rotates between Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, will be held at the Oasis Golf Club and Conference Center, Loveland, Ohio March 17.

Kenton Sena will be heading to Washington, D.C. to attend the 2018 Agricultural Outlook Forum as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Student Diversity Program.
