The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture is committed to teaching livestock producers ways to improve their enterprises and make them more profitable.A fall lambing school offered at the UK Animal Research Center this fall will focus on teaching new and veteran sheep producers essential skills to help get their ewes through critical stages of late gestation, lambing, and early lactation.The 15th annual event is scheduled for Oct. 8, at the UK Animal Research Center on U.S. 62 near Versailles in Woodford County. Applied management and hands-on opportunities related to the care of the ewe in late gestation through creep feeding of lambs will be covered."We want producers to realize the most critical time in a lamb’s life are the first 72 hours," said Monty Chappell, UK sheep specialist. "If they make it through that time, usually they will be well on their way to market.
