The Kentucky Agricultural Training School will host a field crop scouting clinic May 21 at the Research and Education Center in Princeton.

The daylong, hands-on clinic, presented by the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, is ideal for interns or those who are new to the industry, but it can also serve as a refresher course for experienced producers and crop consultants.

Specialists will teach participants how to scout field crops and identify common problems that have resulted from diseases, pests and weeds. They will also provide information on identifying plant growth stages and soil nutrients’ influence on crop growth.

Certified crop advisers can receive six hours of continuing education units. Pesticide applicators can receive three general and two specific hours in categories 1A, 4, 10 and 12.

The UKREC Farm is located at 1205 Hopkinsville Street in Princeton.
