LEXINGTON, KY.

The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture’s Center for Leadership Development is partnering with Lexington businesses for the third annual Ethical Leadership Institute at The Lexington Center in Lexington April 24. Institute participants will explore ethical concepts and practices of some of the most noted ethical organizations.

Conference planners have invited the presidents, senior level administrators and upper level students from 20 Kentucky colleges and universities to join business executives attending the conference. The purpose of the one-day event is to promote an understanding of the impact ethics and values have on the bottom line of an organization.

“People who come will learn about methodologies that drive ethics throughout the organization, integrating it with corporate strategy and decision-making and risk assessment,” said Grace Gorrell, assistant director for the UK Center for Leadership Development.

Gorrell added that the conference will offer a peer-to-peer environment to show the business community how ethical best practices can minimize a company's ethical liabilities and maximize its ethical assets. Participants will be able to identify and explore the most critical emerging issues facing corporations in the field of ethics in the next decade. Post-secondary students will have an opportunity to study business ethics from a practical and reality-based perspective.

Speakers include executives from BB&T, Citigroup, Dell Computers, Herman Miller, PepsiCo, SodexhoUSA, Starbucks, Toyota and UPS and a former Enron executive.

The conference will begin with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and adjourn at 4:30 p.m. More information is available at http://www.peerexchangenetwork.org/eli/.
