This year’s event will be held virtually on March 27. Forestry and wildlife experts will provide educational sessions designed to help woodland owners get the most out of their property.

LEXINGTON, Ky., — Registration for the annual Ohio River Valley Woodlands and Wildlife Workshop is open.

This year’s event will be held virtually on March 27, on the conferencing platform, Zoom. Forestry and wildlife experts will provide educational sessions designed to help woodland owners get the most out of their property.

Sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Services of the University of Kentucky, The Ohio State University and Purdue University, the free, one-day workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT. Sessions include:

  • Are My Woods Healthy? Assessing the Health of Your Woodland, led by Ellen Crocker, assistant professor in the UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, and Kathy Smith and Dave Apsley of Ohio State
  • The Value of Your Woodlands with Sayeed Mehmood of Ohio State
  • Common habitat management practices to benefit game species in the Ohio River Valley with Matt Springer, UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources
  • Non-game Wildlife Habitat Hints – Brian MacGowan of Purdue University will talk about approaches and management practices landowners can consider for improving habit for non-game species.
