UKAg to host second Precision Dairy Showcase in December
The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment invites dairy producers to attend the second Precision Dairy Showcase Dec. 3 at the UK Coldstream Dairy in Lexington and on the UK campus at E.S. Good Barn.
“This event gives producers a chance to see more than a dozen different precision dairy technologies in action at the UK Coldstream Dairy,” said Jeffrey Bewley, UKAg extension dairy specialist. “We will also provide updates from the research we have conducted in the past two years in our efforts to advance the use of monitoring solutions for dairy farms.”
The event begins with registration at 7:30 a.m. EST at E.S. Good Barn, with presentations beginning at 8:30 a.m. Morning topics include:

· Precision Dairy Farming Technology Adoption,
· Precision Technologies to Detect Lameness: Putting Our Best Foot Forward
· Potential for Rumen pH boluses
· Body Condition Scoring
· Detection of Subclinical Hypocalcemia and Ketosis in Fresh Dairy Cows
· How Precision Technologies Can Help Monitor Metabolic Diseases in the Transition
· Preliminary Results for a Non-invasive Sleep Monitor for Dairy Cattle

After lunch, participants will travel to the UK Coldstream Dairy for a tour and technology showcase. Afternoon topics include:
