Beam Conference early bird registration rate deadline approaching; new speakers announced

The early registration deadline is Jan. 24 for the fifth-annual conference, featuring three days of learning across key topics including sustainability, technical research and diversity within the bourbon industry.

LEXINGTON, Ky.—

The University of Kentucky James B. Beam Institute Industry Conference is a celebration of Kentucky’s bourbon industry and its economic impact on the state. Held in partnership with the Kentucky Distiller’s Association (KDA), the fifth-annual conference will take place March 11-13, 2024, at the UK Gatton Student Center and will address key industry topics. 

In partnership with Beam Suntory, the Institute offers students opportunities to learn about brewing, distilling and wine, strengthening one of Kentucky’s largest industries by educating the next generation of leaders. 

“This year’s conference boasts our strongest technical agenda yet,” said James B. Beam Institute Research Director Bradley Berron. “In addition to our lineup of luminaries from the American spirits industry, this year’s event brings in thought leaders from complementary communities.” 

Full conference early bird registration is $350 and $175 for one-day passes through Jan. 24. Beginning Jan. 25, full-conference registration increases to $450 and day passes to $225. Discounted tickets are available for students, faculty and staff. Registration includes educational sessions, exhibits, lunches and networking engagements. 

The conference will open with a panel discussion led by Deloras Jones, global talent acquisition director of diversity, equity and inclusion at Beam Suntory.  The topic, "Every People Leader is a Chief Diversity Officer: Accountability for a Culture of Belonging," will kick off the conference. 

Additional speakers include Jane Millar, William Grant and Sons Distilleries manager of distilleries liquid quality and R&D, who will provide insight on the latest innovation in Scotch whiskey. In addition, Mark Yocum, technical director for North American supply operations for Anheuser-Busch, LLC. Yocum is set to discuss Anheuser-Busch’s holistic approach to sustainability and coproducts. 

Building a distillery business requires more than just a great spirit, according to conference experts.  Technology, diversity, entrepreneurship and sustainability are just a fraction of topics that will be covered during the three-day event.
