The Kentucky Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently announced Aaron Harned, center director of the Kentucky SBDC in Paducah, as the 2023 State Star

Lexington, Ky.—

The Kentucky Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently announced Aaron Harned, center director of the Kentucky SBDC in Paducah, as the 2023 State Star. This recognition is voted on by members of the network and highlights Harned’s exceptional dedication, hard work and impact on the small business community. 

"I feel honored to be recognized as the 2023 State Star for the Kentucky SBDC network,” Harned said. “I am so lucky to get to work with small business owners and entrepreneurs every day to grow our local economies and strengthen the communities of western Kentucky. With the skilled and knowledgeable members of the Kentucky SBDC network, it is humbling to receive this award.” 

Harned has been with the Kentucky SBDC in Paducah since 2020, providing guidance, resources and support to local entrepreneurs and small business owners. His nominators said his unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth and prosperity in rural Western Kentucky earned him the accolade. 

Kentucky SBDC state director Kristina Joyce expressed her congratulations. 

 “Aaron Harned’s exceptional contributions to the small business ecosystem in Kentucky are truly commendable,” she said. “His passion, expertise and tireless efforts have made a significant impact on the success of countless businesses. We are proud to have him as our 2023 State Star and look forward to celebrating his achievements.” 

Harned will accept the award at the September 2023 America’s SBDC National Conference in Nashville. The conference serves as the premier gathering of small business development professionals from across the nation, providing a platform to honor outstanding leaders and share insights on fostering entrepreneurial growth. 

This recognition reflects not only Harned’s contributions, but also underscores the Kentucky SBDC’s vital role nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and driving economic vitality throughout the state. 

Kentucky Small Business Development Center is co-sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and is administered by the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment in partnership with regional academic institutions, economic development organizations, the private sector and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
