The veterinary sciences student will present her thesis titled "The Dirty Broodmare ... Cleaned Up."

LEXINGTON, Ky.—

Carleigh Fedorka, the winner of the University of Kentucky Graduate School’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition last November, is representing her university in the Southern Council of Graduate Schools Regional Competition held in Annapolis, Maryland, this weekend.

The veterinary sciences graduate student in the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment will present “The Dirty Broodmare...Cleaned Up,” the thesis that won for her the UK competition, $1,000 and her spot in the regionals. The UK audience also judged Fedorka the winner of the People’s Choice Award with an additional $125 prize.

Sponsored by the UK Graduate Student Congress and the Student Government Association, 3MT is a research communication initiative requiring graduate students to speak succinctly and engagingly about their current research to a nonspecialist audience. Graduate student finalists were given three minutes to describe their research to a select audience.
