LEXINGTON, Ky., (July 15, 2020) — The Kentucky Small Business Development Center announced an e-commerce initiative with the support of the leading global e-commerce platform, Shopify, in an effort to assist in the online presence of Kentucky small businesses. Entrepreneurs and business owners can expect a series of free webinars, tools, trainings and tutorials that will present great potential for online success – a necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

“The global pandemic has presented everyone with obstacles and challenges, but it has also allowed for creativity in new ways of delivering services,” said Kristina Joyce, Kentucky SBDC state director. “Through platforms like Shopify, we are able to provide resources for small-business owners to begin or expand on what they have already built. E-commerce is a powerful tool and one of many new ways Kentucky businesses can deliver products and services.”

At KyBizOnline.com, small-business owners will have the opportunity to learn the skills to help them create a successful online presence. They will also have access to one-on-one support from the Shopify team, as well as a free 14-day trial if they choose to open a Shopify account. This partnership also features a live, weekly webinar series covering topics from “Getting Started Online” to “Email Marketing 101” and “Website Optimization”. Small-business owners will also find tutorials and other tools relating to e-commerce.

“Shopify believes in making commerce better for everyone, and that starts with reducing barriers for businesses and providing them with the tools they need to start, manage and grow their business. We’re here to support the Kentucky business community and look forward to connecting with local entrepreneurs as they look to bring their business online,” said Cynthia Loiselle-Séguin, Shopify small-to-medium sized business champion relationship manager. “For small-business owners already familiar with e-commerce, Shopify offers advanced learning tools to help expand their knowledge base. Our comprehensive help center and support employees, along with many other resources, are readily available for Kentucky small-business owners.”
