UK KATS to host virtual spray application update

The virtual update is Sept. 10 on Facebook Live.

PRINCETON, Ky.—

To help grain producers get the crop production information they need during the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Kentucky’s Kentucky Agricultural Training School will host a virtual spray application update. The update is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. CDT Sept. 10 on Facebook Live.

The update will include information on herbicide drift and tank mixing presented by Travis Legleiter, weed scientist with the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. UK plant pathologist Kiersten Wise will discuss factors that influence vegetative growth stage compared to tasseling fungicide applications in corn. The event will be a mixture of prerecorded videos and a live question and answer session with Legleiter and Wise following the videos.

No preregistration is required. Producers should follow the KATS Facebook page, @UKRECKATS, to participate.

The update is eligible for continuing education credits crop advisers and pesticide applicators. Certified Crop Advisers can earn one credit in integrated pest management and pesticide applications are eligible to receive one general and one specific hour in categories 1A, 10 and 12.

The Kentucky Agricultural Training Schools are an effort of the UK Grain and Forage Center of Excellence. The schools are designed to give producers the research-based information they need to feel confident in their management decisions throughout the growing season.
